GP Registrars

Richmond Medical Centre is a GP training practice and usually has two or three GP Registrars on 4, 6 or 12 month attachments.  The registrar is a doctor who has completed several years of hospital training and is entering a career in general practice, working under our guidance.   The practice also teaches undergraduate medical students and we have students from King's college Hospital, London.

Nurses

The Practice employs four practice nurses, two of whom are nurse practitioners and undertake triage. The practice nursing role has evolved over the years and is now a comprehensive and dynamic service dealing with health promotion, disease prevention, chronic disease management and women’s health. The nursing team carry out health promotion services for you. The nurse practitoners assess all the under 12s who visit the surgery.  Where necessary the doctor also sees your child. This in no way removes the choice of the patient to see the doctor, in fact it has increased the availability of appointments for all our patients.

Secretary

Our practice secretary, undertakes all the typing for the Practice, which includes patient referral letters and clinical documents for the doctors and nurses.  She also deals with requests from insurance companies for medical reports in connection with applications by our patients for life assurance/critical illness insurance etc.  She manages the "Choose & Book" hospital appointments system for all patients who have been refered by a GP to see a specialist.

Medical Assistants

Richmond Medical Centre have rained the medical assistants to a high standard.  They are trained in phlebotomy, dressings, stich and staple removal, ear syringing, routine blood pressures and flu, pneumococcal and B12 injections.  They are smoking cessation advisors plus much more.

Receptionists

We have six part-time receptionists who assist with your queries.  They answer the telephone, issue prescriptions, make appointments and keep a check on the smooth running of reception.  When you telephone for an appointment the reception team will always ask for details of the problem.  This is to ensure you are seen by the right health care professional.  Their role is very demanding and we could not manage without them.
